About

Many facets of the pandemic have been material — physical health, masks, home-boundedness, new work spaces—and yet, much of our experience and discussion of teaching and learning has been virtual.

“Materializing the Moment” is soliciting reflections and stories (anonymous or credited) that capture the complexities and materialities of returning to campus life and teaching and learning in person. Similar to the CUNY Distance Learning Archive, which documented the shift to online learning, the “Materializing the Moment” project seeks to collect and visualize the material experiences of returning to campus. Stories, images, objects, and artifacts collected as part of this project will be integrated into a collection about this moment in the CUNY Digital History Archive.

This project is facilitated by the Teaching and Learning Center at the Graduate Center, CUNY. If you have questions or would like to contact the TLC please email us at tlc@gc.cuny.edu.

The submission form, privacy policy, and site design were inspired by the Freedom Dreaming project, created by Andrea Lausevic, Anthony Wheeler, Brittany Ann Hamilton, Kiana Carrington, and Raven Gomez. We were also inspired by the Omeka project, Magnetismo Sónico, created and maintained by Agustina Checa.
